That they can't escape (as in they are not allowed to), and that they don't really want to. She tells the person that she understand things are hard for them but that they can't leave everyone. Amy Lee then seems to be trying to talk the person out of suicide. And though they don't want to accept this they can't escape it. The second chorus seems to saying that Amy Lee (or whoever is the singer) isn't able to help the person anymore. The last line again implies that they lost someone who they used to talk to/have. They have no no one to help them and no one appears to care or 'hear' that something is wrong. The next verse says that the person thinks they're hiding all of their despair well but Amy Lee can see that they are scared of life and the truth of it. They're trapped where they are and cannot get out of it. They have no where or no one to go to anymore. Or that whoever they used to talk to left.
The first chorus is implying that they have no one to talk to. Then Amy Lee says that she can see past the acts of the person the song is about, she knows who the person is and that who they are is someone who is sad. The next line makes it sound like the person doesn't know who they are, they're playing roles of other people or things. Okay, in the first verse Amy Lee talking about someone, saying that they seem to think they're above other people. First off I'd just like to say that this is just my interpretation of this song.
